With the first quarter of the year having drawn to a close, it's time to look forward toward the remaining roadmap goals of the year. From January-March we've covered all planned roadmap goals, which we will recap in this post. Going forward, we're working hard to cover the remaining roadmap goals throughout the year, with a few surprises along the way!
For now, let's recap what went down in Q1 2021:
Fan Art Submissions
After an influx of fan art following Restitched's reveal, Stuffy told us to open a fan art submission form for all of your amazing artwork. We will periodically sort through the submitted fan art to share on future News Blog website posts and on our social media profiles.
Second Public Reveal ("The First Look")
The biggest roadmap goal of Q1 has been our massive project update, which featured a slew of new in-game screenshots (the first proper ones!), new renders and outfit reveals for Stuffy, and other media like gifs. This all followed a big internal milestone build for the devs, which is what the posted content came directly from. Progress was swiftly made after the build, so even now the project updates is outdated... which is good news!
We also introduced new information about the game and our direction with it in a dedicated News Blog post for the announcement.
Updated Restitched Site Page
This roadmap goal goes hand-in-hand with the project's "Second Public Update" goal. Following the latest Restitched update announcement, we introduced a new Restitched site page that's more in line with Restitched's evolving brand design.
The reinvented site page also introduces new game information, new character renders, and links to: merchandise, media kit, FAQ page, dev diaries, fan art submission, and our News Blog filtered to Restitched-tagged posts.
New Dev Diary: "Why Restitched?"
trixel+ supporters have exclusive access to a series of Restitched: Dev Diary posts, and Q1 has been no exception. Although we've only posted one new Dev Diary post for the three months in Q1, we've provided a brand new project update and various smaller announcements and pieces of content instead.
"Why Restitched?" shows a couple of exclusive behind-the-scenes development images (one teasing a new costume!), explains the history of Trixel Creative's projects, and overall what led us into indie game development.
Q2 will start off strong with a brand new Dev Diary that's our largest and most insightful one yet. We're very excited to share it with you, and hopefully it will pull back the development curtain even more so that curious players and aspiring developers alike can see what goes on behind the creation of our prop assets and level backgrounds.
New Merchandise Design
Each quarter of the year we plan to release a new Restitched-themed merchandise design as a way of supporting Trixel Creative and the project's occasional costs.
Q1's new merch design is a threaded needle icon design featured on a blueprint-colored background and is available on multiple product designs, such as a pin and various face masks. The design tiles on masks for a subtle and stylized knot design.
Misc. Additional Updates:
In addition to the promised roadmap events listed above, we also had the chance to do some smaller things for the platform and community, such as:
We're just getting started with the year! Plans for Q2 are already in motion, and we will be rolling those out throughout the next three months. Keep an eye on our social media platforms (especially our Discord server!) for announcements as soon as they drop.
How do you feel about Q1 of the Restitched Public Roadmap?
