Absolutely! We're always looking for more passionate creative types to join us in making Restitched as a hobby. Be sure to check out the 'Join Us' page to see our open roles!
We currently work on the game in our free time purely out of passion. This is not a job or paid contract.
We are not yet ready to announce pricing or release details for Restitched. To stay up-to-date on this topic, follow our official channels for any announcements.
We don't plan for the game to be free, as it must at least maintain its own maintenance costs.
We have no planned release date/window for Restitched because it's still in active development. We're working independently as hobbyists, so our main priority is building the best experience possible - no matter how long that takes!
We're always reaching new development milestones, and expect a release date to become clearer as progress continues. When we know, we'll share any news on this through our official platforms. A release date will only be confirmed when we're at the end of development.
Restitched will be released for PC via Steam, with community creations hosted on Steam Workshop.
You can wishlist Restitched on the Steam store now!
Yes, we have planned to host multiple testing phases as the game develops. Whenever a testing phase is upcoming, we will have announced it on our official channels.
In July 2025, we announced a Restitched: Wardrobe Test. This closed testing phase took place from October-December 2025 and involved several rounds of handpicked individuals. More testing opportunities may be announced at a later date.
Unless otherwise stated in announcements, there is no way to inquire about being part of testing. No public, open tests are planned.
There are no current plans to port Restitched to other platforms. This is because we are hobbyist developers, self-publishers, and rely fully on the Steam Workshop for networking and hosting player creations.
Our focus right now is only on delivering a polished experience via Steam for PC!
Mac and Linux users account for a very small percentage of total Steam players. Because of this, the effort is not justified for now. We would be interested in maintaining ports for these platforms with enough interest, but we currently only plan to launch for Windows PC.
Any changes in this would be announced on our official channels.
No, there will be no official support for third-party content (mods). In order to keep the in-game pool of user-generated content (UGC) balanced and properly moderated, we will not be supporting third-party mods nor offer a platform to share them on.
In this sense, 'third-party' mods refer to custom textures, sounds, meshes, scripts, and anything imported into the game that isn't created within the level editor itself. This isn't to say that official mod support / tools won't ever be available, but for the foreseeable future it's not something we have the resources to pursue. You can read our full, official statement on the matter here.
Online multiplayer is something we are already looking into and setting up a framework for in Restitched. Development on this has started, and we hope to see it come together by launch. However, due to the high technical complexity we cannot yet confirm or deny if it will be included in the game at release.
Our goal is to support 2 local co-op players, and a total of 4 online players.
It's currently unknown if multiplayer would be supported while creating levels, but we've had some luck in prototyping this at the start of development and would love to keep exploring it.
Partially! We're developing Restitched with the intention for players to be able to control the main gameplay from any PC-compatible controller. While gameplay in levels should work with a controller, the level editor will not. Any potential gamepad support for the level editor would come at a later time, though we cannot yet confirm this and it's not in active development.
Our goal is to support controllers in menus, level gameplay, and possibly character customization (the Wardrobe).
Absolutely! Many of us are in game dev because of a creative awakening brought on by games like LittleBigPlanet, with some of us having a history that dates back 14 years. Some may think we’re creating Restitched just to bring the same experience to PC, but that's far from the truth. This genre of gaming is mostly untouched by others, and we love the concept so much that we think there's room for multiple titles to explore it!
Games like LittleBigPlanet have nurtured many creative minds and offered a way for all ages to realize their imagination. We aim to make a game that can do the same for PC players, albeit with our own unique innovations. We will always have massive admiration and respect for the genre-pioneer that is LittleBigPlanet, along with its many talented developers.
We find inspiration in several iconic games and franchises, including (but certainly not limited to): LittleBigPlanet, Mario, It Takes Two, The Sims, Tearaway, Little Nightmares, and many more...
For example, the general UI structure, some tools, and the Wardrobe mode have been heavily inspired by The Sims games, while other areas like 3D movement were loosely inspired by Little Nightmares and the iconic Mario platforming experience.
Nope! Despite the fact a cancelled fan project once shared the same word "Restitched" in its subtitle, this is a completely new and separate game where we're applying our own creative vision. Restitched's current developers are not affiliated with that former project.
As creators with aligned interests, we certainly draw passion and inspiration from our favorite pieces of media and games. However, we are only inspired by other games, and are very excited to create a vision of our own in this genre.
This is something that changes through development to meet our game design, gameplay, and optimization needs. As of now, we offer 20 slices of depth (layers) to build on. We also offer a layer between each of these for placing thinner geometry.
Props that are turned into Ornaments don't adhere to the layer limitation, but can only be placed on things that are within the playable space.
Stuffy can freely move between these layered spaces.
Yes and no. Stuffy's default appearance is a teddy bear, but you can easily change most individual aspects of your character's appearance. You will be able to remove or change Stuffy's ears, nose, skin, eyes, and more. However, you cannot change the base body's proportions (including the snout lump) on Stuffy. This can still be used to your advantage to dress up as different kinds of animals, and it's less obvious with certain skin textures if you wish to avoid the likeness of a bear/animal. Stuffy is a teddy bear at the base, and, just like in real life with popular plush bears, Stuffy's identity is themed around how they're dressed. Changing the base of Stuffy would take away from their teddy bear identity, and is not something we wish to do!
Because the game is still in development, it's not yet possible for us to determine the minimum and recommended specs required to play Restitched. We are always being conscious of performance and optimization while working on the game. We want to ensure Restitched is playable to as many people as possible, and so our goal is to have the game run decently on some lower-tier hardware. We will have more information on this at a later date, but it's always subject to change throughout development.
Yes, Restitched is planned to have a full story mode that takes Stuffy on a fun adventure across many themes and locations. The story content for Restitched is already planned, with assets being built around its established themes. However, the level editor will need more time to become stable before we can officially start production on the official levels you'll play in Stuffy's adventure.
We're just as eager as our community to have more Restitched news! We're a team of hobbyist game developers, learning as we go, and we also have many personal life priorities that sometimes pulls focus from development.
Rest assured, we're passionate about the game and we're always working toward the next big goal. Keep an eye on our social channels for monthly updates and occasional new promotional content.
You can check out our monthly Restitched: Recapped! development posts if you're interested in following our progress toward the game!
There are a load of ways to support the project, whether it be motivational or monetary!
You can support us in several ways:

You can support us on Patreon to help cover costs that come with the game's development. We're faced with legal, licensing, asset, registration and platform fees. None of our community donations benefit any individual on the team, as we're currently creating this voluntarily as a hobby. The absolute biggest way to support the project is to join the development team itself! If you have a worthy skillset and promising portfolio, head over to the 'Join Us' page and sign up!
Any and all support means the world to us and helps tremendously!
No. For current legal and financial reasons, Restitched will not feature licensed music. All in-game music is planned to be made by our team's dedicated composer.
We understand there is a lot of demand for this role within the team, and we will announce any changes to this stance if they occur.
We understand the importance of a strong level editor when it comes to user-generated content games. Because the user-friendly "programming" side of the level editor is so important to the game, we're always iterating on it.
Creating a stable, polished logic system is a task that will iron itself out even until the late stages of development. We want to make sure we're building the right tools for creators and for our own official levels.
We will share more on this aspect of the game as we develop it -- including how it looks and behaves, and the type of things that are possible with it.
We love our community, and always enjoy seeing the ideas and speculations that are conjured up! However, we're legally unable to accept proper ideas and feature submissions from the public.
We kindly ask that you stick to discussing your ideas with the community, and not to submit them to us directly.
You can watch the Official Trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ot0_m5giTI
You can also find the latest trailer(s) on our YouTube channel and Steam page.
We're always working toward our next big development goal and we plan to show more leading up to its eventual release date. Keep an eye on our official channels for any updates regarding future trailers or promotional content!
Generally, we do expect Restitched to run on the Steam Deck. However, as Restitched continues to evolve throughout its development, there will surely be major changes from now until its final version. Because of this, we're not able to confirm the compatibility of the game outside of Windows PC.
We aren't currently developing the game for the Steam Deck specifically.
As soon as we're able to test the near-final game on a Steam Deck device we will know more, but even then it will be up to Valve's own testing for whether or not they mark the game as compatible. There are also certain qualifications to being fully Deck verified, such as matching the control inputs in the UI to those of the Steam Deck device.
You may hear us mentioning the term 'UGC' often in regards to the type of game Restitched is. UGC stands for 'User-Generated Content', and is a type of genre where players can create and share in-game content with others.
Character customization in Restitched is the ultimate form of self-expression, and something we consider to be very important. You'll be able to mix-and-match clothing pieces from various categories (head, hair, face, torso, legs, feet, neck, back, etc...) in order to create your own signature Stuffy!
If you'd like to spice up your look even further, you can also place Stamps, or use the Design Tool to recolor outfit pieces. The Design Tool also offers Swatches for some items, allowing you to swap the type of material/texture a piece of clothing uses!
Not only can you assemble your own style, but you can also save and publish your outfits to the Steam Workshop for other players to enjoy.
Any funds from our Patreon service is withdrawn from the platform and held in a private, secure checking account only accessible by the Trixel Creative Directors. These funds are used solely for the purpose of maintaining our projects, platform, and any emergency expenses.
At this time, Trixel Creative operates with contracted hobbyists, meaning no individual benefits with profit. We're actively working on potential profit plans for our team from future game-related sales, though this is not yet able to be confirmed due to ongoing investigation of international and legal laws.
No. Restitched does not offer a feature for creating user-generated content music.
Though a music creation tool is often requested, our limited resources are focused on creating a solid level editor first. Because of the intense technical complexities, we currently have no plans to implement a feature like this.
We occasionally host Restitched contests that allow our community members to contribute to the game, such as 'Design-A-Stamp' and 'Style-A-Stuffy' events.
As a contest participant you must agree to the copyright release of your work via a legal contract in order for Trixel Creative, LLC to safely use and publish it as deemed fit.
You can find the full guidelines and terms for each contest event on their respective pages and through public announcements. Please contact us if you have any questions!
Yes! We have an official Restitched Press Guide and Press Kit download. The Press Guide page outline's the project's history, and how to represent it as a content creator or journalist. The media kit contains renders, graphics, screenshots, and much more!
We've explored this idea in early development, but decided it was out of our scope and that our limited time would be best spent on gameplay features instead.
We're still developing the main menu, but it won't be a character-playable one. Part of this decision was also to ensure we're staying unique in the genre.
No, there is currently no way to setup or edit a personal profile in-game. This is because Steam Workshop doesn't support these features through the API available to developers. Instead, your creations are tied to your Steam account and can be edited from Steam directly.
You can open the Steam Workshop as a full page from the in-game overlay, allowing you to easily access these pages and make the changes you like. However, it won't be possible from our own game menus.
