"Restitched: Wardrobe Test" Announced

We're excited to announce that we've started development for the first proper testing phase of the game! Later this year (though sooner than you might think), we'll be rolling out invites for the Restitched: Wardrobe Test.

This first testing phase will serve as a trial for future testing opportunities while allowing us to improve the player customization experience.

The Wardrobe is one of the main pillars of Restitched, alongside level creation and gameplay. We're not quite ready to share those other parts of the game yet, but we are very close to finishing the Wardrobe! Now is the perfect time to gather feedback.

Testers will be invited to try out a limited range of assets and features to make their very own Stuffies. Dress them up, decorate and design them, then save and publish! If testers run into issues along the way (or have any feedback), we'll be keeping an eye on those reports.

Why testing?

We need to ensure the experience is solid enough to continue developing it. We'll need a lot of help testing outfit combinations, trying to publish to the Steam Workshop, browsing in-game menus, configuring graphics and performance, and much more.

By testing this more confined part of the game, we can smooth things out and potentially even release a public demo while we continue developing the rest of the game.

What will testers do?

There will be many minor issues with assets, like shirts clipping into pants, hand items in weird positions, a few pieces that can't be recolored properly, etc... these are the types of bugs we need your help squashing.

We'll also be listening to any major feedback you have on the whole experience, whether related to the UI, the tools, the sounds, or the graphics.

We'll encourage testers to publish creations to the Steam Workshop so we can test online features at a larger scale. We can't guarantee they'll carry over to future tests or the full game, but we'll try to preserve what we can!

Who will be invited?

If you're a kind, active community member, you surely have a spot waiting! We notice and appreciate our most supportive members, and look forward to reaching out in the future.

Don't worry if that's not quite you. We'll also be opening up the test in phases, so plenty of other community members (including Trixel+ Legacy and Trixel+ members) can participate too.

As you might imagine, we cannot open testing to every single Patreon or community member. But stick around, because we'll share updates from the testing and still offer future opportunities.

What will be included?

When playing the testing build, it'll be a restricted version of the actual game. We'll only offer a way to access the Wardrobe, configure game settings, and customize your Stuffy. Assets will be handpicked and limited, so you won't see the full range of content.

Testers should also be able to upload saved outfits to the Steam Workshop via in-game menus. The Design Tool and other customization features will also be present, but not all planned features will be unlocked in the test.

We may update the test builds over time as we fix issues and change content.

How long will testing last?

Access to the testing build will be for a limited time only. We hope to keep the test open for a few weeks. Once testing is finished, we'll revoke access to the build.

Will there be rewards for early testers?

Yes. We'll track each tester's name during development. When the final game launches, we intend to reward each tester with a special DLC key that unlocks the exclusive "Testing Constructor" outfit.

What are the terms?

When testers are invited, they'll receive more info regarding the testing requirements.

Most importantly: This is not just a quick chance to play the game early. It's a private opportunity for testers to help us improve things for future players. Please plan to take it seriously, or you could be banned from testing.

The game build will be distributed via a Steam game key for Windows PC only. To participate, you must accept the EULA.

When will testing start?

We're still working to finish the Wardrobe on a technical level, so we aren't sure exactly when the testing will be ready. However, we intend to begin testing soon (in the coming months). We're still adding a couple of missing features, polishing loads of assets every week, and fixing bugs.

Please be patient and we'll share more info when we have it! We'll continue working on it until we feel it's ready. Once it is, you will hear more about our plans.

Thank you for all the support and helping us reach this new milestone!
